Andrew Douglas Clark (16 Jul 1892 – 24 Apr 1918) France

          Son of William Clark & Elizabeth Brown Carmichael; 1^st cousin of my father.

Frank Douglas Craig South (23 Jul 1899 – 16 Aug 1918) France

Alfred Brook Higgins (1887 – 13 Aug 1915) At Sea near Gallipoli

          1^st cousin of Grandfather Harris

Herbert Nelson Saywell (1890 – 15 Aug 1916) At Sea near Belgium

          Husband of Grandmother Harris’s 1^st cousin once removed, Catherine Mary Foote. 

          Herbert may seem remote but wouldn’t have been to Grandmother as it’s this branch of the

          Foote family with which she appears to have had the closest ties. Catherine, a great 

          granddaughter of Richard Foote & Catherine Brett. (my 2x great grandparents)

Edward Ernest Osment (1 Oct 1893 – 9 Feb 1917) Weymouth, Dorset

          This one is a distant relation – my 3^rd cousin once removed but like us and the Uppills, 

          a descendant of David Osment & Martha Rose

Frank Wilfred Foote (1894 – 23 Apr 1917) France

          A great grandson of Richard Foote & Catherine Brett.

Sidney Herbert Stagg (1901 – 27 Feb 1919) Plymouth, Devon

          Son of Sidney Herbert Stagg and Frances Gertrude Harris, brother of “cousin” Joyce 

          Kendall and “cousin” Frances Wright who both visited us in WA., uncle of June 

          A’Burrow who has visited us most recently.

Many others enlisted and carried the horrors throughout their lives.

But we forget and continue to plunge into war expecting it to right wrongs and bring peace. Worse young people continue to be permanently injured in body, mind and spirit with insufficient acknowledgment.
